The Daily Inter Lake, 30 Sep 2010 – On the surface, it’s an idea that might appear to have merit. The city of Kalispell is making plans to institute a business licensing system — a registry that would include information vital during an emergency, such as contact names and phone numbers and a way to enter the building.

US MT: Officials See Flaws With Medical Marijuana

Sidney Herald Leader, 26 Sep 2010 – According to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, in December 2008 there were 1,577 patient card holders for medical marijuana. A year later in December 2009, 7,339. By June there were 19,635, and as of Sept. 1, there were 23,187 card holders. It’s those numbers that make officials concerned about flaws in the Montana Medical Marijuana Act that was passed in 2004. During a Kiwanis meeting Thursday, local officials discussed the problems they face with the law and some of the changes they’d like to see.

Bozeman Daily Chronicle, 29 Aug 2010 – It took a few headlines around the state about how local communities were coping with the explosion in the use and sale of medical marijuana, but some Montana lawmakers are finally getting serious about regulating this burgeoning industry at the state level. On Tuesday, a legislative committee in Helena voted to OK proposed medical marijuana regulations that will be sent to the Legislature in January.
