Daily Press, 20 Jun 2013 – As Americans obsess over NSA spying, abuse by the IRS and other assaults on our freedom, I can’t get my mind off the thousand other ways politicians abuse us. In their arrogance, they assume that only they solve social problems. They will solve them by banning this and that, subsidizing groups they deem worthy and setting up massive bureaucracies with a mandate to cure, treat and rescue wayward souls.

Brian Sandoval just signed a law allowing medical-cannabis dispensaries. The law came into being after a Nevada Senate judiciary committee determined that the state wasn’t doing enough to help medical-cannabis patients access their medicine. Imagine that. A state is actually helping medical-cannabis patients. California, I’m looking at you.

US CA: Lake County BOS Supports DEA Contract For Marijuana Eradication

Willits News, 11 Jun 2013 – LAKEPORT — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is on track to receive $170,000 from the federal government to eradicate illicit marijuana-growing operations in the county. The Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) unanimously supported the agreement with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) following a nearly two-hour public debate at the Lake County Courthouse Tuesday.

Chico Enterprise-Record, 15 Jun 2013 – Methamphetamine and marijuana continue to be a problem in Butte County, but an increase in heroin is becoming a concern. According to the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force 2012 report released Tuesday, there were 243 arrests made, with most – 219 – being drug-related.
