US HI: Medical Marijuana User Gets $1000 Drug Charge Fine
The Maui News, 19 Aug 2012 – WAILUKU – A Lahaina man was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine on a drug charge after police seized 23 marijuana plants from his residence three years ago. Frederick Bacolini, 69, was given a chance to keep a reduced charge of first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug off his record if he follows court requirements for one year.

Honolulu Star-Advertiser, 17 Aug 2012 – On Aug. 7, Roger Christie was denied bail for the sixth time. He has been held without bail for more than two years under charges of distributing marijuana. Not murder – marijuana distribution. The Green Party of Hawaii does not know whether Christie is guilty. However, as we feel personal marijuana use should be decriminalized, a person accused of nonviolent charges relating to marijuana should be granted bail.

Garden Island, 12 Aug 2012 – LIHU’E – Leaders from the community gathered Thursday for the purpose of revising the county’s five-year master drug plan during the 2012 Drug Summit at the Kaua’i Marriott Resort and Beach Club. "We have about 150 people here, including teams from the Department of Education, community organizations, the County of Kaua’i and the Judiciary to work on the plan," said Bridget Arume of the Department of Education.
