US CA: Feds Mum On Mendocino County Pot Investigation

The Press Democrat, 31 Oct 2012 – Federal authorities are maintaining their silence about a criminal investigation that led to a raid at the Potter Valley family property where a high-ranking member of Mendocino County law enforcement resides. The investigation into possible marijuana cultivation has ensnared sheriff’s Capt. Randy Johnson, who now is the subject of an internal Sheriff’s Office probe to determine if he knew of any illegal activities on the family property. The probe is being conducted by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

The Press Democrat, 15 Oct 2012 – The federal Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI and IRS are conducting a criminal investigation of family members of a Mendocino County sheriff’s captain, according to law enforcement sources. Officials on Thursday served a search warrant on property near Highway 20 in Potter Valley where agents reportedly found more than 500 marijuana plants. The property is owned by and is the residence of Johnny Johnson, the father of Sheriff’s Capt. Randy Johnson. The captain’s brother, John Johnson, also lives on the property.

US CA: Lake County Judge Set To Rule On Marijuana Crackdown

The Press Democrat, 16 Aug 2012 – A Lake County Superior Court judge on Friday will decide whether to halt a month-long crackdown on medical marijuana cultivation in the county. Thousands of pot plants being grown under the auspices of medical marijuana laws have been eradicated since the county adopted new restrictions on outdoor pot farms last month.
