US CA: LTE: Stick With Federal Law On Marijuana

Chico Enterprise-Record, 09 Sep 2012 – I don’t understand why the supervisors continue to try to appease the drug pushers and addicts. By federal law, pot is illegal. It’s not up to the supervisors to decide that it’s a medicine. That’s the FDA’s job. I don’t know of any other "medicine" that is a mind-altering drug, that is not manufactured by a licensed pharmaceutical company and distributed by a licensed pharmacist.

US VT: Gubernatorial Debate Focuses On Substance Abuse

But in an election dominated by talk of the economy, jobs and the state budget, Wednesday morning’s version stood out for its subject matter. The forum at the Turning Point Center of Chittenden County was about substance abuse in Vermont, and candidates fielded questions on alcohol use, drug addiction and the problem of illegal substances in prisons during the event, co-hosted by Friends of Recovery Vermont.
