US CA: Draft of Proposed Butte County Medical Marijuana

Chico Enterprise-Record, 18 Aug 2012 – OROVILLE – Although the first hearing on Butte County’s proposed new medical marijuana cultivation is more than a week away, a draft of the measure has been released to allow plenty of time for review. The measure would ban outdoor cultivation of medical marijuana, and limits the amount that could be grown indoors by parcel size.

US CA: Editorial: Enforce Pot Closure Until Law Clarifies

Grunion Gazette, 09 Aug 2012 – This Sunday, yet another milestone arrives in the ongoing saga of medical marijuana cooperatives in Long Beach. They’re all supposed to close. At least that’s what the City Council said on July 3, when it narrowly voted to not extend exemptions for some cooperatives from a citywide ban on marijuana outlets.

US CA: Sheriff’s Dept. STEPs Up Pot Raids

Foothills Sun Gazette, 08 Aug 2012 – Last week detectives from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department S.T.E.P. Unit completed several months of investigations by conducting marijuana raids on public and private lands throughout the foothill and valley areas of Tulare County. Several of these operations were conducted with the assistance of Federal Officers from the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s C.E.R.T. program (Cannabis Eradication & Reclamation Teams). The C.E.R.T. program has replaced the state run C.A.M.P. program.

The Chico News & Review, 09 Aug 2012 – Re "Board gets tougher on pot" (Downstroke, Aug. 2): Did the supervisors consider a light ordinance? Our next-door neighbors are very nice people keeping to themselves. They said they are growing tomatoes in a white plastic greenhouse in the middle of the forest in a residential neighborhood, and their grow lights light up the sky and the forest as if a major planet settled in with full-on lighting at 3 a.m. in the morning.

US CA: Solana Beach Residents To Decide Fate Of Dispensaries

The Coast News, 30 Jul 2012 – SOLANA BEACH – Solana Beach residents will decide in the Nov. 6 election whether to allow medical marijuana dispensaries in their city. But as is the case in adjacent Del Mar, even if the initiative passes, there’s no guarantee it will become law.
