Denver Post, 12 Apr 2013 – Re: "Though marijuana is legal, it’s still harmful," April 9 letter to the editor. It is true that marijuana is harmful, as letter-writer Barbara Allen points out. However, as someone in the medical field who has worked with clients who abuse every kind of drug there is – from alcohol to methamphetamines to legal prescription medication- I would much rather take care of someone who has smoked or ingested marijuana. I can’t say that I have ever had to fight with a combative individual or worry that someone will go into a seizure and die when they have been smoking marijuana. It is a choice by an individual to experiment with any substance. Let’s educate people and hope that they make right choices.

Pueblo Chieftain, 10 Apr 2013 – NOW THAT marijuana has been legalized in Colorado, how much should the state tax pot? A legislative panel which seemingly has antipathy to voter-approved Amendment 64 is recommending the state tax the product by 30 percent of the sales price. The House-Senate panel has agreed to ask voters permission for a 15 percent excise tax plus a 15 percent sales tax.

US CO: LTE: Though Marijuana Is Legal, It’s Still Harmful

Denver Post, 09 Apr 2013 – As the state works out our new marijuana laws and all they entail, I hope they will consider and include how to teach our children and teenagers that drugs still aren’t a positive thing and that they are harmful. We have sent a very mixed message to them. Because of the availability of medical marijuana (more dispensaries than Starbucks) and the edibles packaged like candy, suckers, etc. (which leave no smell or stinky breath to detect), we have made it very user-friendly for them.
