Huron Daily Tribune, 20 Oct 2010 – BAD AXE – City council on Monday approved the first reading of an ordinance banning medical marijuana dispensaries in Bad Axe. Though the ordinance states its purpose is to "regulate the location and operation of ‘primary caregivers’ operating ‘medical marijuana dispensaries’ under the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act of 2008," the ordinance includes a statement similar to one county planners are considering adopting in that it prohibits dispensaries.

Detroit News, 18 Oct 2010 – State Gaming Control Board Provides a Good Model for Creating Regulations on Medical Marijuana For some weeks, law enforcement officials, political leaders and even a judge of the state Court of Appeals have been calling on state lawmakers to clarify Michigan’s medical marijuana law. Oakland Sheriff Michael Bouchard, one of those seeking clarification, has suggested a good model for medical marijuana law reform – the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The Argus-Press, 19 Oct 2010 – OWOSSO — Medical marijuana in the city of Owosso will not be regulated by a city ordinance — at least for the time being. The Owosso City Council did not move ahead with two proposed zoning ordinance amendments that would limit the areas that medical marijuana producers would be able to operate within the city limits during its meeting Monday night.

The State News, 19 Oct 2010 – The Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, or MMMA, received 63 percent of the vote and the majority of the support of Michigan’s 83 counties back in 2008. Now, the East Lansing City Council is looking for resident input on how to deal with distributing medical marijuana to licensed patients. East Lansing residents and city officials will discuss options at a council meeting tonight. The three proposals under consideration can be implemented singularly, in combination or drafted into new proposals as warranted.

Grand Haven Tribune, 19 Oct 2010 – GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP – Grand Haven Township residents interested in becoming medical marijuana "caregivers" could soon sell the drug in their homes. Following a public hearing Monday on the issue, the township’s Planning Commission unanimously approved recommending a zoning ordinance amendment to the Township Board that would allow medical marijuana as a home occupation.
