US AK: PUB LTE: Marijuana Users Contribute
Anchorage Daily News, 08 Jan 2012 – I strongly disagree with Bill Zeddies ("Those Stoned On Marijuana Don’t Contribute To Common Good," ), There are enough examples of cannabis (marijuana) users who contribute to society to fill volumes. From the 1st presidents to the last few, from doctors, computer designers, scientists, musicians and people from every walk of life and every occupation. Persecuting and discriminating against cannabis users doesn’t change the fact that cannabis users do in fact contribute to society and have for thousands of years. The question is: how does caging a responsible human for using the relatively safe, extremely popular God-given plant (see the first page of the Bible), contribute to society?

Anchorage Daily News, 04 Jan 2012 – Marijuana and I were friends in the ’70s. In love with my favorite mind-altering choice at the age of 20-something, legalization would have been a gift. But, now 50-ish and smoke-free for years, my view is clear on legalization of America’s favorite drug. I know this: People whose wasted days turn to years while stoned are not working or are underutilizing their potential to contribute to society. Sitting around with a stupid grin on one’s face does nothing for the common good. Furthermore, it is said time and time again that smoking dope is not harmful. But I now have unexplained "hyperactivities on the deep white matter of my brain" and failing cognitive function. What caused this phenomenon? Was it the brain injury at work, the excessive drinking in my youth or was it the pot? It wasn’t fresh air.

US AK: Stirring The Pot Laws
Anchorage Press, 22 Dec 2011 – Alaska’s latest marijuana controversy doesn’t involve nitpicking the specifics of a search warrant or lofty arguments about how constitutional privacy rights apply when an Alaskan gets caught holding weed. Given the permissiveness of Alaska law, and the efficient homegrown marketplace, the controversy may not even be important in terms of an Alaskan’s access to weed. Instead, it’s about media, medical marijuana and one man’s access to media.
